  • Mr. and Mrs. I. Rawlings returned Friday from a five days trip to Flint and Grand Rapids.

  • Mrs. Martin Cuwder and infant child of Hannah are reported very ill.

  • Pauline McGrath, who spent vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. McGrath, returned Sunday to Flint where she is attending Junior college.

  • R. Case made a business trip to Detroit last Friday, returning Monday.

  • A very enjoyable party was given Thursday evening at the George Fewlass home.  About 40 guests attended in honor of Mrs. Jennie Yale Mason.  Mr. and Mrs. Mason left Saturday for Mt. Pleasant where Mrs. Mason will resume her studies at Central State Teachers college.

  • Miss Etta Mox returned Saturday to her work as instructor in the Lansing schools, after spending the holidays with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mox Sr.

  • J. E. Emery is in Ohio for a week's vacation visit.  His son Andrew accompanied him.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Lane Fenton left Sunday to spend a couple of weeks in Ann Arbor and Detroit.

  • Rhea Joy Stinson left Sunday for Caro where she is teaching after spending two weeks vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Stinson.

  • Earl Hackman left last week for Ypsilanti where he attends Normal.

  • Mrs. John McCarthy and daughter Clara of Traverse City were guests at the A. P. Bair home Friday.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Louis and son of Kalamazoo spent their vacation here with the Voice Families.  Mrs. Courtade is a student at KalamazooNormal.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Guy Liskum of Grand Rapids are visiting Mrs. Liscum's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Bowers.

  • Mr. A. P. Biar entertained sixteen friends at bridge Friday afternoon in honor of her daughter Mrs. Lane Fenton.

  • Clayton Wood was brought home last week from the Traverse City hospital where he underwent an operation.

  • Miss Zola Marsh returned Saturday to Ypsilanti where she is attending Normal.

  • Arthur Hoeflin underwent a throat operation at the Traverse City hospital last Wednesday.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Arden Deibert who spent their vacation at the Sidney Weaver home, have returned to Mt. Pleasant where both are attending Normal.

  • George Freeman of Detroit is here repairing his farm home northeast of Kingsley.

  • Rhea Joy Stinson spent Friday and Saturday with her cousin, Mrs. Jack Crawford of Traverse City.

  • The timber on the Nick Kreiser farm now owned by Peter Kirk has been sold  Gene Knight take the elm and basswood and Howard Dunn the maple.  Charles Weaver and Ray Morgan are doing the cutting.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Joe LeVail and young daughter Yvonne who spent several months here have returned to Detroit.

  • Mrs. Gertrude Moore and son Datus who were home for the holidays returned to Ann Arbor Saturday where the latter is attending the University of Michigan.

  • Sam Wright has moved to his farm purchased last fall from Cal Pease.

  • Floyd Morgan came from Pontiac Friday for a short visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Morgan.

  • Mary Dunn and Lucile Sparling returned Sunday to Kalamazoo, the former to resume her school work at Kalamazoo College and the latter at Western State Teachers College.

  • Miss Edna Cook spent last week end in Traverse City at the home of her sister, Mrs. W. J. Riley Jr.

  • Forest Manigold left Saturday Big Rapids where he entered Ferris Institute for a course in physical education.

  • Clayton Wright accompanied his young son to Cadillac hospital last week fro examination and treatment.

  • Mrs. Louisa Wheat is ill at her home.

OBITUARY

  • Mrs. William Spaulding, 80, died very suddenly at her home on Blair Street, Saturday morning.  Funeral services were held Monday from the M. E. Church.  Rev. C. Wheaton officiating and interment was in Evergreen.  Mrs. Spaulding was a  highly esteemed resident of Kingsley and vicinity for many years  She and her husband purchased a home nearer the downtown district last fall, very close to the church, where she was a regular attendant.  Surviving are her invalid husband, on daughter, Mrs. Carrie Hamment of Kingsley, a son George of Lansing and many friends.

 

  • Carl Huffman and sister, Mrs. Mabel Endres who spent a week's vacation at the Tharp home, returned Sunday to Comstock Park.

  • Mrs. John Mox entertained the Matchett ladies' Aid and their families at a New Year's Day dinner.

  • Walter Webster motored to Lansing Sunday accompanied by his daughter, Irene and Leo Winchcomb.

  • Rev. Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Wheaton motored to Jackson last Monday returning Saturday.  Mrs. Gus Luick accompanied them to visit relatives at Flint and Clio.

  • Albert Hoeflin and Willard Anstett returned Monday to their school work in Grand Rapids.

  • Miss Mabel Wortman returned Monday to resume her teaching duties in Detroit.  She has been convalescing at the Wilson home from a broken leg caused by a fall on the ice.

  • Sautrday evening the alumni held a basket ball game and dance at the Community hall.  The alumni defeated the high school team and the high school girls won from the alumni girls.

  • Mr. and Mrs. S. Newhall of Traverse City were holiday guests of Mrs. L. Wheat and Mrs. V. Hobart.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Sam Nickerson motored to Muir Sunday for a few weeks visit.

  • Mrs. J. Hoeflin entertained Thursday night in honor of Miss Zola Marsh, all of last year's high school graduating class and a few other guests.

  • Mr. and Mrs. H. McLennon and two daughters of Bay City were holiday guests at the Fred Holliday home.  Mr. McLennon's father who recently returned home from a visit at his old home in Scotland accompanied them.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Rawlings left Sunday for a few days visit with relatives in flint.  Miss Zenna Rawlings who spent her vacation here accompanied them, returning to Grand Rapids where she is a nurse in the city schools.

  • Mr. and Mrs. A. McKane and son Raymond spent last week with relatives near Hannah.

  • Miss Ava Valencourt returned Saturday to Mesick where she is a teacher in the public schools.

  • Mrs. Gertrude Moore spent from Sunday until Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. C. Moody at Copemish.

  • Mr. and Mrs. J. Boyland and son returned to Pontiac Sunday.  Mrs. Boylan has been spending several weeks at the J. Brown home and Mr. Boylan came for the Holidays. (Error? Boyland or Boylan)

  • Waide and Kenneth Sparling returned to Detroit Saturday after spending a week with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Sparling.

  • Mrs. Eva Brown has gone to Traverse City where she has found employment.

  • Byron Cronhite has gone to Traverse City for a few weeks.

  • Wilbur Olson of Detroit accompanied his brother here Friday, leaving Wednesday for Copemish to visit his sisters.

  • Miss Lucy McGrath returned to Flint Monday after spending a week's vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. McGrath.

  • Mr. and Mrs. George Sparling and the latter's mother, Mrs. De Gault of Lansing and Mrs Mabel Hamment Lewis and little daughter of Grand Rapids returned to their homes, having come to attend the funeral of William Spaudling.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Buys of Traverse city were visitors at the William Spaudling home Sunday.
