  • Mrs. O. D. Whitson has returned from Bates where she went to care for her mother, Mrs. J. Warner who is ill.

  • Wellington Wood and family are located in their new home purchased from Mr. and Mrs. Rance Giddis.  The farm is known as the Ed. Cronkhite place.

  • Mrs. Theron Manville entertained the M. E. Aid Thursday.  A delicious lunch was served.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Cliff who have been visiting at the Peter Brautigam home for some time returned to Jackson Saturday.  Leo Huffman accompanied them.

  • Twenty-five of Mrs. Frank Baldwin's friends and relatives entertained with a birthday surprise party in her honor Tuesday night.

  • Mrs. J. Woodman who is spending this winter at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Mox, is ill.

  • Walter Webster, his daughter Irene and son Carl have employment in Lansing.

  • Mrs. Alda Wall is ill.

  • Walter Cleland, Paul Brow, Elmer Revett, Otto Lasch and Harry Sargent attend the American Legion convention at Cadillac Tuesday.

  • John McGrath has returned from Flint where he has been since last fall.

  • Tony Faberer is absent from school this week on account of illness.

  • E. A. Powers of Comstock Park was a local visitor Saturday enroute home from the north.

  • Calvin Rohr of Boyne City spent Sunday with his mother, Mrs. J. E. Rohr.

  • Mrs. John Wood and daughter, Mrs. Lucius Knight of Detroit, who has been visiting here, went to Detroit Wednesday.

  • A. Nixon has been very ill at his home.

  • Will Mack went to Grand Raids Monday to spend a few days with his brother Lewis.  Eldo Mack who has been visiting his parents for a week returned with him, continuing on to Kalamazoo where he has employment.

  • Club members are reminded that the next club meeting will be held Tuesday, Feb. 25th at the home of Mrs. Frank Koeple.

  • Basketball games were played here Friday evening with Kalkaska teams resulting in victory for both local tossers.  The boys won 15 to 7 and the girls 52 to 5.

  • Mrs. R. Meyer entertained the M. E. Aid Thursday.

  • The men about town have organized an indoor baseball team which will play in  Community Hall.

  • The high school boys and girls went to Tustin last Friday evening for a basketball game.  The boys won and the girls lost.  A large number of fans and the Happy Five Band accompanied them.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Stinson and two daughters of Oshtemo are visiting Mrs. Stinson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Spaulding.

  • Mr. and Mrs. E. Thorp returned Monday from a trip to Florida.

  • John Schoendorf accompanied his brother-in-law, John Schone of Traverse City to Cadillac Tuesday for treatment.  His children are being cared for by his mother, Mrs. Mary Schone, and his wife spends most of her time in Cadillac with her husband.

  • A birthday party was given Tuesday evening for Herman Steinmiller.  Cards and lunch provided a pleasant evening.

  • Mrs. I. D. Linten left Tuesday for a two weeks visit with her daughter, Ms. Ines Linsley of Detroit.

  • Georgia Smith burned her arm severely Friday morning while building a fire.

  • Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Saunders of Ann Arbor came Friday for a visit at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Lane Fenton.  They returned Monday.

  • The sophomores gave a very pleasing play, "The Suffragetts," Friday morning in chapel.  Old fashioned costumes were worn by the cast.

  • Charles Chappel and family have moved from Jackson to their farm in the Matchett neighborhood.

  • The library is a busy place these Saturday afternoons.  Fifty-two books were loaned last Saturday by Mrs. Rawlings, who has charge.  The Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn book fund is growing but slowly.  The boys want these two books in the library and those in charge are trying to raise money by subscription for them.

  • Mrs. Oscar Seegmiller and young daughter of Cadillac are visiting at the I. D. Linten home.
