The Society is constantly updating the cemetery information for Leelanau and Grand Traverse Counties as data is found or submitted. Leelanau has been done and sold out although there is more major being accumulated on an ongoing basis. GTAGS is in need of volunteers to assist in the projects listed below. Volunteers may select a project that may be completed in a week, month, single year or a project may require several years to complete. If you have time, limited or a lot, available, please consider helping on one of these committees. Some ways to assist the Society for the cemetery projects listed below: Kathi Farley, Cemetery Committee Chair.
CEMETERY PUBLICITY 1) Compiling and maintaining a current mailing list. 2) Mailing out project fliers. These can be done by 2 separate people if needed		OBITUARY COLLECTION 1) Clip obits from newspapers from Grand Traverse and Leelanau county papers 2) If person who lived outside the area but is buried here we want that obit. 3) A person is needed to search newspapers for obituaries. 4) A person for clipping the obituaries. 5) For pasting them on 4 x 6 cards. 6) File obits into an ongoing alphabetical file.
COMPUTER RESEARCH Again, a volunteer can do any or all of the items below. Verification is critical of information on Cemetery forms using various online databases, such as: 1) Grand Traverse County Death Records 2) Grand Traverse County Marriage Records		COMPUTER RESEARCH Continued: 3) Michigan Death Index (1971-1996), 4) Social Security Death Index 5) Michigan Gendis (1867-1897) 6) Seekingmichigan Death Records
